Caleb

14.1hh chestnut gelding with white star on fore head and scar on hind leg. A very sensible and useful horse. Caleb is a real pro at therapy work and is a big favourite with our clients. Caleb has a club foot so has to have special farrier care to keep his hooves in good shape.

Cisco

15hh Quarter horse x tb dun gelding 11 yo. Very inquisitive and intelligent nature. Cisco is very handsome so everyone falls in love with him.
He is also very clever and can untie himself. He is a very forward going horse but kind and placid with all his clients.

Red

Red is a 13’3 hh chestnut gelding. 
He has a very sweet nature and loves cuddles. Red is extremely calm and quiet and perfect for therapy rides.
He is 26 years old but still thinks he’s a youngster. He lives in the paddock with the mares as he loves the girls and the boys can be a bit pushy with him. He is happy surrounded by his ladies.

Peanut

Bay 15’2 hh thoroughbred mare.  Sweet nature, aims to please.  Peanut is an absolute diamond for RDA. She is steady and willing and very kind.
She is a very beautiful horse so many of our volunteers and clients fall in love with her immediately. She loves offering her warm muzzle to people that may be unsure about horses and she helps to put them at ease.

Zena

18yrs Welsh cross 13.2hh liver chestnut mare. Zena is a really fun pony. She is short and stocky and  just loves to eat all the time! She is a forward moving horse but gentle and kind.
She is brilliant for our intensive riders and is perfectly behaved when riders come to do more complicated moves like four-point kneeling!

Harbour City Honey

Honey is a 12 year old stationbred mare and has recently had a foal.  She is 15.1 hh and a light bay with two white socks.  
Honey is settling in really well and is very gentle and sweet.  She loves being groomed and fussed over.  Honey is a star RDA horse.

ZAC

Zac is a 15.1hh 14 year old Thoroughbred chestnut gelding. He is a very gentle boy and has extremely an extremely fine and soft coat that shimmers with the sunlight.

Zac thoroughly enjoys his therapy work and thrives on the fuss he gets at Tauranga RDA from all the volunteers, riders and staff.

Rawenga Santa

Rawenga Santa is a beautiful bay stationbred gelding that has been recently purchased by Tauranga RDA. He is around 15.1hh and is 6 years old. He is a very gentle chap and has a wonderful nature. Santa comes straight over to people to say hello when they go into the paddock and he loves to be groomed and cuddled.

PowerCo Betty

Betty is a 15hh nine year old Appoloosa mare. She has recently been purchased as a therapy horse.
Betty has been very well training both in western riding and English riding.
Betty has been named after Betty Blundell who started up Tauranga RDA thirty six years ago.

Spud

Spud is a 14 year old crossbred chestnut gelding with a white blaze.

He has done lots of pony club and trekking prior to coming to Tauranga RDA.

He arrived at Tauranga RDA in June 2011 and has immediately settled into the routine.

Spud’s best friend is Merlin as he came together with Merlin from the East Coast.

Merlin

Merlin is a 7 year old crossbred 14.3hh dapple grey gelding. He is currently in training as a therapy horse.

Merlin comes from the East Coast and is very kind and friendly. Merlin’s best friend is Spud.
